Baldur’s Gate 3 has swiped the coveted “Ultimate Game of the Year” award at the Golden Joystick Awards, beating out Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy 16, Super Mario Wonder and Alan Wake 2. The ceremony took place on Friday, November 20 in London, and was a celebration of what’s been a stellar year in gaming.
While there have been a wealth of amazing titles released over the past 12 months, us Spawnies are particularly fond of Baldur’s Gate 3 and feel it’s a well-deserved victory. As well as “Ultimate Game of the Year”, BG3 also won a further six awards, with Larian Studios winning “Studio of the Year”.

The Golden Joystick Awards, also known as the People’s Gaming Awards, is a video game award ceremony that’s been running since 1983 and is designed to celebrate the best video games released that year. People vote for their favourite games via GamesRadar+ and the options include console and computer games.

Baldur’s Gate 3 won a record-breaking seven awards at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023. These included “Best Storytelling”, “Best Visual Design”, “Best Game Community” and “PC Game of the Year”. Larian studios also won “Studio of the Year”, which is well deserved.
